Office Policy

New Patients:

Your first visit will consist of a full evaluation with appropriate x-rays. We want to be sure we understand all of the issues that concern you. Your overall health is an important aspect of dentistry. Please be sure to inform us of any allergies, all prescribed medications, major illnesses, and hospitalizations.

New Patient Forms:

Prior to your first visit we will email you forms regarding your health and dental history. We request that these forms be completed prior to your visit.

Insurance:

Many of our patients have dental insurance and most of the policies differ in benefits. It is our goal to streamline the insurance billing process for our patients. Therefore, our policy is as follows:

Prior to any treatment, we will provide you detailed information regarding your care, treatment sequence and financial investment. Payment for services is collected at the time of treatment. As a courtesy to our patients, we will submit insurance claims on their behalf.

Emergencies:

For patients of record, we make every effort to treat dental emergencies on the day you call. On weekends and holidays, patients can reach Dr. Burton by calling the office telephone number, 401-353-4880, and following the instructions.

X-Rays:

We use digital x-rays, which reduce overall radiation by 75% over film. We generally require a full mouth x-ray series at your initial examination and yearly bitewing x-rays (2-4 exposures) to detect decay between teeth. If you have a full series from a previous dentist that was taken within the last three years, we will be able to use that in lieu of a new full series. We will be glad to contact your prior dentist on your behalf.
